HUBTalk – Far Western Nepal Adventures

Event Details

Marianne Heredge has just returned from a fact-finding trip to the Far West of Nepal, travelling from Pokhara via Lumbini, Kapilvastnu, Banke, Surkhet, Bardia, Maghi and then up to Baijang to visit Khaptad National Park, coming down to Silghadi to go across Accham and up the Singi Valley to Rara Lake. With the imminent opening of Lumbini international airport, the far west is set to become all the more accessible.

Increasingly people are seeking alternative routes and areas to get away from the well-trodden and more crowded famous routes. So looking at the potential of developing tours in this region, Marianne will discuss how you can market trips here.

There are few places left in the world where you can feel that you are having an adventure in a remote yet unspoilt and stunningly beautiful area. Not for the faint-hearted as the accommodation tends to be quite basic and the road travel is not the most comfortable, but this must be one of the most rewarding regions in terms of seeing the 'real' Nepal rather than the Nepal for tourists.

Staying in a variety of community homestays along the way, she will be happy to give an update on some of the practicalities of transport and accommodation and talk about the things to see and trekking available here.
